Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a common plastic material that is largely used in the construction and electrical industries. Its main use is for piping as it is more effective that copper, iron, wood in pipe and pipeline construction and implementation – in fact there is probably a PVC pipe network running somewhere near you right at this moment! PVC plastics have also been known as 'vinyl' when used as flooring or a covering for surfaces. PVC's waterproof and rigid qualities allow it to be used for other applications such electric cable housing, playground equipment, signs, covers and fume cupboards.
